Curiosity about other species inspired the ZooYou Preserve Custodian David Watkinson to create this website.
His love for animals led him to train a wild rabbit to come when called, eat out of his hand and come into the house for a snack. While the rabbit and squirrels would come in for a snack, the cat TouTou would purr anticipating the treat he would always get for being a good host:
Contemplating the future after aging TouTou would be gone, David considered replacing him with Bunny as a permanent house guest. It seemed logical since Bunny was a daily visitor with multiple visits per day.
However, after TouTou crossed over the rainbow bridge at age 20, Bunny never made another appearance. The surprising immediate disappearance is a mystery that remains to this day.
And then David and his wife Kim gave up their Colorado home to move into an apartment in Kansas so that Kim could start a new job there working for the Japanese company Panasonic. Kim was recruited for the job because she is fluent in Japanese. (Although she’s a blonde American, she grew up in Japan living there until she went to UCLA, so Japanese was her first language.)
As a result, David has been looking for new critters to feed. We’ll let you know if he’s successful.
Inl the meantime, for a fun story about David’s prior animals and his evolution from movies and TV to ZooYou, please take a look at the page FINEDAY ORIGINS (and a Cat Tale)
